A WORD TO MY ONLINE FRIENDS:

I sincerely intend to share this message with each and every one of you. If you are reading this, regardless of how you stumbled upon it, it is meant for YOU. We are connected via this virtual community and together we have infinite strength. This campaign calls upon the power we have to create amazing things when we are UNITED and working toward a common goal.

(Have you ever contributed to a project to which you have no personal connection? Sound crazy? Read on…)

I recently launched UNTAPPED CAMPAIGN via Kickstarter.com, the largest online platform for funding creative projects in the world.  This campaign intends to raise funds to help bring to life a Broadway-scale touring show conceived by tap dance master Mark Mendonca – think the next ‘Riverdance‘ (…meets Cirque du Soleil!).  A BIG, AWE-INSPIRING, “YOU GOTTA SEE THIS” KIND OF SHOW!

My goal is to reach $100,000 to cover the last round of startup funding for the show. In the process, I hope to impart a strong message about the value of COMMUNITY, COOPERATION, and CREATIVITY. This very campaign will enable us to BE the example.

And so, in regard to my campaign goal, I question:

Does raising $100,000 through individual pledges via our online community seem impossible?

Some might think so. Don’t believe them….

IT IS POSSIBLE!

*But* it cannot be done without YOU.

It’s not always easy to ask for what we need, but If we are not afraid to ask we will find countless willing hands and open ears of generous individuals who can help raise us up. So, I’ll give it a try…

THIS IS WHAT I NEED FROM YOU:

I need your support.

I need you to make a pledge NOW (not later!), even if it’s $1.

I need you to support for the sake of strengthening our community and collective power.

Do not underestimate the power of your voice, of your contribution!

Some people say that our social networks actually separate and isolate us as human beings, that they do not support our need for true connection that a ‘real community’ provides, and that our focus online is directed solely towards the preservation and enhancement of our own personal image …under the guise of interacting virtually with our ‘friends’.

Do they think that social networks are just a pseudo-community that’s starting to replace a ‘real’ healthy one?

I don’t buy it.

I think social networks and our greater online community can serve as a beautiful extension of our real communities. So, let’s make a statement about how social networks can and do bring us closer together and how we – regardless of our physical location – can join forces to support one another and achieve what some may call IMPOSSIBLE feats in such a so-called ‘passive, self-centered online community’.

Let’s prove them wrong.

I created the UNTAPPED CAMPAIGN to help bring to life a magnificent stage show through this very community. I believe that we can do this. We can be the example.

• Maybe you’re a tap dancer, a tap enthusiast?     By making a pledge, you will help preserve and advance this art form that we all love so much. This will help all of our projects move forward. (And if you’re not, I can’t wait for you to see the show! Think tap is some corny, outdated novelty dance? Think again.)

• Maybe you don’t really care what this campaign will do for tap dancing? Not really a fan?     In that case, make a pledge anyway. Even more powerful is your message to support your friends and fellow human beings, because you know that when everyone is doing what they do best  - and when the world is full of art, entertainment, and creativity – that your life, too, will be richer and more joyful. You can’t lose.

So, friends: Are you with me?          Now’s the time.
