withInspiration

A very dear friend of mine gave me this incredible handmade, hand-bound little journal over 6 months ago. I absolutely love it. It’s so magical, so special, that I’ve been waiting to write in it until I could add something as meaningful as the journal itself.

It finally hit me last night.

In this journal, I will write inspirational tidbits that come from within myself (withInspiration – get it? …sorry. Couldn’t help myself.) each time I put a pencil to these beautiful pages… This includes things I’d like to give attention to, things I’d like to shift, things I’d like to strive for… Self guidance for my current direction, needs, frustrations, distractions, ponderings…

Acknowledgements of all that is, for nothing more than what it is.

I write notes like this to myself all the time anyway. Now I have a meaningful repository for them!

I thought it would be fun to share these pages with you. I will post as often as I write in the journal, which will be whenever I feel the need to do so. …No expectations, just gonna flow with it.

Appearance at Starlight Washington’s Teen Prom!

The Starlight Children’s Foundation is a fantastic organization, and I am so happy to be cultivating a continued relationship with them.

On May 1st, I will be performing at their 7th Annual Teen Prom, which is an event that Starlight created for teens with serious illnesses and medical complications. Music, dancing, sharing experiences, struggles, and hopes… building new friendships. Togetherness.

My first connection with Starlight was for “FLOW: An Evening of Music, Dance, and Visual Art” at the Triple Door on April 4, 2010. A portion of the proceeds from FLOW’s Silent Auction were donated to Starlight, and their Executive Director, Steve McGraw, was even generous enough to speak during the show!

I am so thrilled about dancing at their Teen Prom and I’m really looking forward to connecting with these local teens!!

Tap Dancing Still Alive?

Why yes. Yes, it is.

On Thursday, January 28, 2010, I hosted a Tap Jam in Seattle at Egan’s Ballard Jam House. What a night that was! We had a room full of participants and observers, special guest tap dancers Travis Knights and Mark Mendonca, and 4 incredible musicians to set the mood for the evening: Hans Brehmer (piano), George Bullock (guitar), Nathan Reese (bass), and Frank Heye (drums). I was so thrilled with the energy we created and exchanged that evening, and happy to see so many different tap dancers come out from all over the city.

Following the jam, Frank, our drummer for the evening, posted a great review on his own blog titled: “Tap Dancing is Still Alive!”   Go Check it out!

My thoughts?
Contrary to what some may think, tap dancing does still exist! Is it at the forefront of the entertainment industry? Well, no. But is there room in the market for bringing people a fresh new experience via tap dance? Absolutely! The market is wide open, we just need to create the product for it.

…And so that is exactly what we’ll do. Keep your eyes open because the best in tap is still to come!

Thanks, Frank, for helping to spread the word that tap dancing is alive and kicking!

Peace,
